Caroline Memorial Building

YMCA

In 1950, Coolidge announced plans to build a community center and high school for African Americans in Nicholasville. That center became the Caroline Memorial Community Center, a facility has been managed by the YMCA since 1977. In 2017, the facility was renovated & updated. The building has been closed to the public for a few years now. All playground equipment was removed, basketball nets & goals, & the 20yr old fence reinforced. The HNA has reached out a few times to the YMCA representatives that manage the facility. But, have been advised they are still in the planning and reorganizing phase & currently can’t provide any information about rental fee costs for the HNA to use the facility. They also advised they can’t provide a date to when it will be back open to the public. We are currently on standby for the day it is open to the public a can so that we can rent out the facility for community events. We would be so excited to hold events here. *Some restrictions due to CovidÂ
