About Us

Hervey Town

Welcome to the Hervey Town Neighborhood Association Non-Profit Incorporated Website. Hervey Town is an African American community on the east side of Main Street in Nicholasville, KY named after James Hervey, a banker, who’d owned most of the land where the community was located in the 1800’s. Mr. Hervey helped African-American community members with securing the purchasing of land, in that area, for homeownership. Because of this, the area became affectionately known as “Hervey Town”.

The mission of the Hervey Town Neighborhood Association Nonprofit in Nicholasville, KY is to empower and uplift the African American community through education, advocacy, and cultural enrichment. We believe that by providing resources and support to our community, we can foster a sense of pride and unity, and work towards creating a more equitable and just society for all.

Our organization is dedicated to promoting the intellectual, social, and economic advancement of African American individuals and families in Nicholasville and the surrounding area. We do this with the hopes of being able to provide a variety of programs and initiatives, including educational workshops, cultural events, and advocacy campaigns, in the future.

We are committed to working with community partners and allies to create positive change and to address the unique challenges and needs of the community. We strive to be a beacon of hope and a source of support for all those who seek to improve their lives and the lives of those around them.
